There’s a wonderful message of support as Gaelige in this banner for Sean Cox

Paul Moore

A small detail but a very classy touch.

Jordan Henderson admitted that Liverpool had done it the hard way in Rome but nobody cares because the Reds are heading to Kiev to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Right now, the scramble for tickets is on as Liverpool fans plot their way to the Ukrainian capital but during those scenes of celebration after the full-time whistle blew, it was great to see Klopp’s men taking the time to acknowledge and support Sean Cox, the Irish Liverpool supporter that was brutally attacked outside Anfield.

Last night, Cox’s family released a statement which thanked “the huge number of messages and gestures of support from across our local community and beyond. The level of support from so many is overwhelming.”

The image of the Liverpool players offering their support to Mr Cox has been shared around the world and while it’s difficult to read the text on the banner itself, Spórt TG4 noticed the fine print which read “Ní shiúlfaidh tú i d’aonar do deo.”

Translation, You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Despite the euphoric high of reaching the Champions League final, it’s clear that Sean Cox’s welfare remains at the very front for most Liverpool players and supporters.

A lovely touch.
