You’re back in work tomorrow… stay in this evening.
The weather is set to be fairly frightful tonight and the long weekend is coming to an end. What better way to comfort yourself by staying in on the couch and indulging in some high quality movies?
We’ve picked out five of the most interesting choices that you’ll find on the box this evening.
The Big Lebowski — TG4 – 9.30pm
Jeff Bridges, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi star in this iconic weird comedy from the 90s that’s as quotable as it is masterful. The Coen Brothers’ direction makes for a trippy aesthetic experience while the performances are laugh-out-loud across the board. If you’ve never seen this one, you’re missing out — and tonight is your opportunity.
Young Offenders — RTÉ One – 9.30pm
Possibly the best Irish comedy to hit the big screen since the turn of the decade, responsible for spawning the successful TV series of the same name. If you’re looking for a laugh tonight, then this is guaranteed to deliver.
Casper — Virgin Media Two – 6.00pm
With Halloween just two days away, it’s time to get spooky. Not scary, just spooky. Casper is a lightweight family fun time for anyone who wants to get into the Halloween season but doesn’t want to be scared half to death before heading to bed tonight. The Friendly Ghost is joined on-screen by Eric Idle, Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci in this classic 90s flick. One for the family.
The Italian Job — Sky One – 10pm
This 2003 remake of the 1969 classic stars a super noughties cast of Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, Edward Nortion and Seth Green. It’s intense, exciting and it will probably really make you want to buy a Mini Cooper. It’s not necessarily a classic watch, but it’s certainly decent enough for passing the time.
Replicant — SyFy – 23.40pm
This one is likely only going to appeal to people who already really like Jean-Claude Van Damme… but those people will absolutely love it. Van Damme stars in a sci-fi action thriller that sees him play a clone version of himself trying to take down a serial killer version of himself. Either you’ve already stopped reading or you think that sounds like the dopest thing ever. Either way, it’s on late tonight.
