David Gray announces extra Dublin show due to demand

Dave Hanratty

The popular troubadour continues his love affair with the Emerald Isle.

Look, it’s not cool for anyone to claim the status and success of someone not from their land, however in the case of David Gray, he’s basically ours, no?

The guy couldn’t get arrested in his native UK until White Ladder did the business over here and essentially became as commonplace in an Irish household as the phone book.

It was a different time, a strange time.

Now 50 years young, Gray is gearing up for the release of new album Gold In a Brass Age, which hits supermarket shelves next March.

Last week, he announced a short Irish tour as part of his upcoming jaunt, including a date in the capital at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Friday 5 April, 2019.

With tickets for that one flying out the door en masse, Gray has taken it upon himself to book a two-night stand in Dublin and thus will now play another gig in the same venue on the following evening, Saturday 6 April.

Tickets from €39.50 are on sale now via Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

Gray also plays the Waterfront, Belfast on Tuesday 2 April and the Royal Theatre in Castlebar on Thursday 4 April.
