It is reported that Albert Finney has died at the age of 82, following a battle with cancer.
Best known for his roles in as the lead character in the 1970 adaptation of Scrooge, Daddy Warbucks in the 1972 version of Annie, as well as playing Julia Roberts’ kind-hearted boss in Erin Brockovich, Finney has had a very successful career that spanned several decades.
The Guardian has reported that Finney’s family made the announcement of his death early on Friday morning.
He was nominated five times for an Oscar, up for the Best Actor award for his roles in Tom Jones (1963), Murder On The Orient Express (1974), The Dresser (1983), and Under The Volcano (1984), and he was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for his turn in Erin Brockovich (2000).
His last big screen outing was a small part in the Bond blockbuster Skyfall in 2012, as well as a role as a genetic doctor in the Jeremy Renner-starring spin-off The Bourne Legacy.
