With such a sprawling production across various different countries, it’s a source of immense pride that Ireland can legitimately say that it’s the home of Game of Thrones.
In fact, the very first dramatic scene in the show as filmed in Co. Down because Tollymore Forest was the location where the Rangers of the Night’s Watch stumbled onto the mass graves that were left by the White Walkers.
Heck, even without talking about locations and sets, the creators of the show David Benioff and D. B. Weiss actually met while they were studying at Trinity College.
Anyway, back to the show.
With a plethora of Irish locations featured in the Game of Thrones, we’re delighted to say that the Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Down has been chosen as the location for the next official Game of Thrones studio tour.
Throughout the seven seasons of the show, the Linen Mill has been used as a set for Riverrun and the majority of Euron’s scenes on his ship, The Silence, were filmed there as well.
In terms of what’s going to be available, fans can experience authentic sets, costumes and props from all seasons of the hit series, including the upcoming eighth and final season.
Truth be told, it’s the closest thing that you’ll get to actually living in Westeros!
The Game of Thrones Studio Tour, comprising of the breathtaking imagery, captivating sets, original props and costumes, and other behind-the-scenes items from the hit HBO, will drop fans in the very heart of the Seven Kingdoms.
Visitors will be treated to an up-close and personal look at a wide selection of items pulled straight from the screen and they’ll also have the opportunity to walk through authentic set pieces from some of the show’s most iconic scenes.
The Linen Mill Studios are also designing and building the new 110,000-square-foot interactive experience which should be completed in spring 2020.
The interactive experience, when finished, will take you through the likes of King’s Landing, Winterfell, Dragonstone, The Wall and the kingdoms across the Narrow Sea like Mereen and Braavos.
The Studio Tour will also feature a first-of-its-kind collection of informative displays highlighting the production spaces and the craftsmanship and artistry of the creative teams who brought the epic series to life.
