JOE’s Game of Thrones podcast The North Awaits returns…
The North has been waiting for the arrival of the White Walkers, and boy did they arrive in Season 8 Episode 3 The Long Night. The Night King blew away Carl Kinsella’s theory from last week, so the lads, joined by Conan Doherty of The GAA Hour.
As far as dead named characters go, we count:
- Lyanna Mormont
- Melisandre
- Dolorous Edd
- Beric Dondarrion
- Jorah Mormont
- Viserion the dragon
- The Night King
But can the Night King truly be dead? After all that? Our podcast hosts aren’t sure. After all, that whole Bran is the Night King theory has never truly gone away. And there are several mysteries left pertaining to the youngest remaining Stark? Where was he warging to for the whole battle? What did he discuss with Tyrion in Episode 2?
And what’s going to happen now?!
Well… This week, Carl Kinsella is theorising that we’ve underestimated the current Queen of the Iron Throne. Cersei Lannister still sits the throne, and she’s the one responsible for some of scariest moments in the entire show: including the starvation Ellaria Sand and her daughter, the torture of Septa Unella, blowing up everybody in the Sept of Baelor, killing Jon Arryn to set the whole thing in motion, killing her own husband Robert Baratheon, arresting Ned Stark, and hiring Qyburn.
Cersei has wiped out entire families — the Martells and Tyrrells. The fact that so many characters have still survived simply suggests that they now face a much more personal and painful death at her hands.
What will Dany do without her beloved protector Jorah Mormont (cough, cough, Mad Queen?). Tyrion and Sansa sitting in the crypt, K-I-S-S-I-N-G?
