Here are the best movies on TV tonight

Alan Loughnane

It’s Tuesday.

While there is Champions League on the TV this evening, there’s also a handful of really good movies on TV for you to sink your teeth into.

Let’s take a look at the pick of what’s on.

Star Trek – Film4 – 6.35pm

The first movie of the Star Trek reboot and well worth your time if sci-fi is your cup of tea.

Bishops love sci-fi.

Scrooged – Comedy Central – 9pm

Bill Murray gets into the Christmas spirit. It’s all rather enjoyable.

Jason Bourne – Film4 – 9pm

The first of two Bourne movies on TV tonight but neither of them are one of the good ones.

But at least this one stars Ireland’s own Matt Damon.

The Bourne Legacy – ITV4 – 10pm

The first three were great and this one is a step back from the brilliance of the original trilogy.

Jeremy Renner is decent though but it’s hard not to hope for Matt Damon to jump out and beat the shit out of people at various points.

The Green Mile – Channel 5 – 10.30pm

An inmate on death row changes the lives of everyone he encounters.

Some might call it a tear jerker.

Legend – Film 4 – 11.25pm

Tom Hardy plays the notorious Kray twins in this period gangster movie.
