Looking for something to watch this Tuesday evening? Why not check out one of these fine flicks airing on TV tonight.

Star Trek – Film Four – 9pm

The brash James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) tries to live up to his father’s legacy with Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan (Eric Bana) from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.

J. J. Abrams’ energetic and action-packed 2009 reboot brought Star Trek to a whole new generation.

Passenger 57 – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

The movie which made Wesley Snipes an action star, Passenger 57 centres on an airline security expert who finds himself trapped on a passenger jet when terrorists seize control of it.

Tomorrow Never Dies – ITV 4 – 9pm

The second Bond to star Pierce Brosnan as 007, the movie follows the MI6 agent as he attempts to stop a power-mad media mogul (Jonathan Price) from engineering world events to initiate World War III.

Mechanic: Resurrection – E4 – 9pm

In this sequel to 2011’s The Mechanic, a master assassin’s lover is kidnapped in order to force the hitman (played by Jason Statham) to complete three impossible assassinations and make them look like accidents.

Mechanic: Resurrection is one of Statham’s more forgettable movies but some fun set-pieces and a scene-stealing Tommy Lee Jones make it watchable.

Changing Lanes – Sky Witness – 10pm

Set in New York City, our pick for this evening sees a young, successful lawyer (Ben Affleck) and a middle-aged, recovering alcoholic, insurance salesman (Samuel L Jackson) get into a car accident, with their mutual road rage eventually escalating into a feud.

Affleck and Jackson are excellent in Changing Lanes, director Roger Michell’s follow-up to smash hit Notting Hill. Watching the two men cross moral and legal lines to get back at each other makes for a fascinating watch.

The Wild Bunch – Turner Classic Movies – 10.45pm

This 1969 western from the legendary filmmaker Sam Peckinpah centres on an aging group of outlaws in 1913 looking for one last big score as the “traditional” American West disappears around them.

While The Wild Bunch’s graphic violence shocked audiences upon its original release, the movie has gone on to be considered a classic.

Spy – Film Four – 11.30pm

A desk-bound CIA analyst (Melissa McCarthy) volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer and prevent diabolical global disaster.

From Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, this hilarious action-comedy is a perfect vehicle for McCarthy’s talents. Action star Jason Statham also proves himself to be very funny in a key supporting role.
