Bridgerton star to lead new adaptation of Irish novel

Stephen Porzio

The novel was the debut of Irish author Naoise Dolan.

Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor is set to star in an adaptation of Irish author Naoise Dolan’s novel Exciting Times.

The book, which was Dolan’s first, centres on a millennial Irish expat who becomes entangled in a love triangle with a male banker and a female lawyer while teaching English in Hong Kong.

The novel received critical acclaim upon release in 2020, drawing comparisons to Dolan’s fellow Trinity College Dublin graduate Sally Rooney.

Dolan is currently working on her follow-up book.

According to Deadline, Dynevor will star in and also executive produce a TV adaptation of Exciting Times which is in development at Amazon.

Filmmaker Cooper Raiff (Freshman Year) is reported to be co-writing the series with Dolan and is also slated to direct.

As well as reprising her role in the second season of Bridgerton, Dynevor has signed up to star in movies I Heart Murder and The Colour Room.

She is also set to make a cameo in a UK remake of hit French sitcom Call My Agent.
