Movies!

Here’s how it looks on your TV screen on Monday, 15 November…

Pacific Rim: Uprising – Film4 – 6.50pm

The first Pacific Rim is quite clearly a giant cartoon mess of a thing, but there’s charm and craft and unique set pieces baked into proceedings.

The sequel… is devoid of such delights. But hey, if you need a ‘giant robots versus giant monsters’ fix, here it is.

Absolute Power – Turner Classic Movies / TCM – 9pm

Clint Eastwood’s veteran burglar witnesses a murder involving the US President.

The Predator – Film4 – 9pm

Shane Black’s messy attempt to revive the Predator franchise sees a team of PTSD-afflicted soldiers go up against the bloodthirsty elite extraterrestrial hunter.

Tomb Raider – TG4 – 9.30pm

Our main pick on an evening filled with average sequels and reboots.

Alicia Vikander steps into the boots of Lara Croft for the ‘it’s not terrible but it’s honestly not all that great, either’ 2018 reboot.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story – Film4 – 11.10pm

Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughan duke it out for wacky comedic supremacy.

Dial M For Murder – TCM – 11.35pm

A murderous (duh) classic in which all kinds of twists and turns arise.
