An action-packed sequel is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It was the highest-grossing movie of the year 2000.

Looking for something to watch that will help combat those hump day blues?

Well, here’s your movie options on the box tonight.

Home Alone – Film4 – 6.55pm

With last year’s reboot of this classic family film earning overwhelmingly negative reviews, why not revisit the original to see what makes it so special.

Parasite – Film4 – 9pm

This Oscar Best Picture winning South Korean thriller focuses on the symbiotic relationship that develops between a wealthy and poor family.

The less you know about Parasite going into it, the better. That said, we’ll say it certainly lives up to the hype.

Goldfinger – ITV4 – 9pm

Sean Connery stars in this third entry in the Bond franchise, which is widely considered to be one of its best.

The Wolfman – Horror Channel – 9pm

Benicio Del Toro is The Wolfman in this so-so horror remake.

All My Sons – True Movies – 9pm

Acting heavyweights Burt Lancaster and Edward G. Robinson star in this adaptation of Arthur Miller’s classic play.

Mission: Impossible 2 – Sky Showcase – 10pm

Our pick for tonight, this hit sequel – it was the highest grossing film of 2000 – sees Tom Cruise’s special agent sent to Sydney to find and destroy a genetically modified disease.

Action legend John Woo (Face/Off) replaced Brian De Palma in the director’s chair for this follow-up, which pushes the blockbuster spectacle – cliff climbing, motorbike fighting, doves – to thrilling if occasionally absurd extremes.

The Five-Year Engagement – Comedy Central Extra – 10pm

In this rom-com, a man (Jason Segel) proposes to his girlfriend (Emily Blunt) but unexpected events keep tripping them up as they look to walk down the aisle together.

Vacancy – Horror Channel – 11.05pm

Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson check into a motel hiding a dark secret.

The Revenant – ITV4 – 11.15pm

The gritty Western that finally earned Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar.

Rough Night – Film4 – 11.40pm

Scarlett Johansson stars in this decent raunchy comedy about a bachelorette party that goes horribly wrong.

The Railway Man – BBC One – 12.00am

In this well-reviewed drama, Colin Firth plays a man determined to track down the person who tortured him during WWII.
