Movies & TV

21st Feb 2022

One of the best mid-movie plot twists is among the movies on TV tonight

Dave Hanratty

Monday.

It is, in fact, Monday.

The sun is shining as I type this but that could change any second now.

What won’t change is tonight’s line-up of movies on TV.

They’re locked into the schedule, you see.

Of course, it’s always possible that some rogue disgruntled station employee could cause havoc should they choose violence, but hopefully it won’t come to that.

Here’s how it looks on Monday, 21 February…

Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Film4 – 6.20pm

The very first big-screen adventure for Captain Kirk and crew.

The Hallow – Horror Channel – 9pm

A conservationist travels to a small Irish town to survey some land. Terror ensues.

Pale Rider – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Because we can’t have a Movies On TV article without a Clint Eastwood western, now can we?

A Fistful of Dollars – ITV4 – 9pm

See above.

Angel Has Fallen – Film4 – 9pm

The third and most recent of the Gerard Butler ‘Has Fallen’ series.

Se7en – TG4 – 9.30pm

Also known as ‘Seven’, should you prefer actual words.

You likely know this one. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman play detectives tasked with tracking down and stopping a particularly brutal and inventive serial killer.

The twist reveal of who the killer is sure hits different nowadays, huh?

Thir13en Ghosts – Horror Channel – 10.55pm

Also known as ‘Thirteen’ Ghosts, should you prefer actual words.

A family inherits a house and wouldn’t you know it – it’s haunted by ghosts.

Thirteen of them, apparently.

Executive Decision – ITV4 – 11.10pm

Our main choice this evening and the subject of that tantalising headline above.

Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal embark on a dangerous plane-based mission.

As JOE’s own Rory Cashin outlined last year, Executive Decision boasts one of the best mid-movie plot twists of all time.

Read all about it here, but only after you’ve seen the movie, of course.

Downsizing – Film4 – 11.20pm

Matt Damon stars in a strange sci-fi comedy-drama where less just might be more.

National Lampoon’s Vacation – Turner Classic Movies – 11.20pm

Like the Christmas one, but without the Christmas bits.
