Movies & TV

01st Mar 2022

A hit creature feature is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It’s the most recent solo film for the classic movie monster.

It’s Tuesday.

To get more particular than that – it’s Pancake Tuesday.

And for those looking for something to watch on telly while they gorge on pancakes, here is what’s on the box tonight – Tuesday, 1 March.

American Pie 2 – Comedy Central – 9pm

The first sequel to the hit raunchy comedy.

Total Recall – ITV4 – 9pm

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in this terrific futuristic sci-fi action mind-bender based on a Philip K. Dick (Blade Runner) short story.

Peppermint – Film4 – 9pm

The director of Taken helms this action-thriller in which a mother (Jennifer Garner) seeks revenge against the drug cartel that killed her husband and daughter.

A 13% score on Rotten Tomatoes suggests this is not up there with the Liam Neeson cult hit.

To Sir, with Love – True Movies – 9pm

This acclaimed ’60s British drama is about an engineer trainee who gets a job teaching a totally undisciplined class at a school in London’s East End.

The late and great Sidney Poitier stars.

Watermelon – Virgin Media Three – 9pm

An adaptation of a Marian Keyes novel starring Anna Friel.

Kong: Skull Island – RTÉ2 – 9.35pm

Our pick for tonight is set in 1973 and sees a team of scientists explore an uncharted island in the Pacific where they meet gigantic ape King Kong and a host of other terrifying creatures.

Boasting an all-star cast including Brie Larson, John C. Reilly, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, Kong: Skull Island introduced the classic character to Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse ahead of last year’s Godzilla vs Kong.

It also got pretty solid reviews in itself, earning a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Film4 – 11.05pm

The terrible first Wolverine solo movie, before the terrific sequels The Wolverine and Logan.

Fighting – Turner Classic Movies – 11.10pm

Channing Tatum plays a young counterfeiter introduced to the world of underground street fighting.

Identity – Horror Channel – 12.45am

John Cusack leads the cast of this Agatha Christie-style mystery.
