An absolute horror cult classic is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It’s one of the weirdest sequels ever.

On the hunt for something to watch this Thursday (15 December).

Well, we have your back with this list of what’s on the box tonight.

Here’s your options.

The Italian Job – Film4 – 9pm

A fun American remake of the classic 1969 British heist film.

Van Helsing – ITV4 – 9pm

Much maligned by critics upon release in 2004, this action-horror starring Hugh Jackman has its defenders.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – BBC Four – 9pm

A surprise box-office hit when it came out in 2011, this comedy-drama centres on a group of British pensioners (played by the likes of Bill Nighy, Judy Dench and Maggie Smith) who move to a retirement hotel in India.

USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Nicolas Cage stars in this World War II-set disaster film based on true events.

Our pick for tonight is Halloween III: Season of the Witch

The Meg – RTÉ2 – 9.35pm

Described by JOE as the “greatest movie of all time… for about three minutes“.

Somers Town – Film4 – 11.10pm

A beautiful, black-and-white, 70-minute-long, coming-of-age drama of director Shane Meadows (Dead Man’s Shoes, This is England).

Halloween III: Season of the Witch – Turner Classic Movies – 11.40pm

In this stand-alone entry in the Halloween franchise, a doctor (Tom Atkins) investigates the strange murder of one of his patients, leading to him uncovering a sinister plan orchestrated by an Irish toy company.

Once criticised by many for not featuring franchise antagonist Michael Myers, Halloween III’s reputation has grown significantly in recent years thanks to its gorgeous visuals and unforgettably strange and singular story.

Speed – ITV4 – 11.40pm
