One of the best ghost stories ever is among the movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Some genuinely brilliant movies on TV tonight!

Loads of movies to choose from this evening, including 12 new additions to Prime Video (check out that full list here). But if they don’t tickle your fancy, here is your actually quite impressive Tuesday evening movie menu…

Gods of Egypt – FilmFour – 6.35pm

FilmFour must have some kind of bet on to see how often they can show this movie. Either that or this Gerard Butler-led flop is proving to be very popular with the just-home-from-work crowd.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day – ITV4 – 9pm

Quite literally one of the best action movies of all time.

The Lincoln Lawyer – FilmFour – 9pm

If you’ve been enjoying the actually-quite-entertaining Netflix series adaptation of these books, then you should absolutely check out the Matthew McConaughey-fronted movie version. It is very, very good.

The Others

Nicole Kidman in brilliant spookfest The Others

The Others – BBC Three – 10pm

Our pick for the night is The Others, an absolutely tremendous ghost story that is an absolute must-watch if you’ve never seen it before. Nicole Kidman plays the mother of two children who have developed a strong allergy to direct sunlight, living in a huge mansion in the English countryside, waiting for her husband to return home from the war. But while feeling like there is no easy way to leave their home, they discover they might not be its only occupants…

The Others is also currently available to rent via the Sky Store.

40 Days and 40 Nights – Comedy Central Extra – 10pm

2002’s answer to The Internet’s Boyfriend, Josh Hartnett stars in this rom-com about a man who decides to go celibate for Lent, only to immediately meet the woman of his dreams (Shannyn Sossamon). It isn’t great, but it does have its heartfelt defenders.

Suburbicon – BBC Two – 11.15pm

George Clooney directs this very weird crime comedy starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac. With a script co-written by The Coen Brothers, it should have been A LOT better.

Sicario 2: Soldado – FilmFour – 11.20pm

We recently did a deep dive on this under-appreciated sequel for its fifth anniversary. Definitely worth checking out.

The Untouchables – FilmFour – 1.40am

Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Robert De Niro and Andy Garcia feature in this stylish crime epic.
