The Power of the Dog – BBC 2 – 10pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight is one of the best movies of the past decade, Jane Campion’s excellent Western drama.

Starring a very strong cast of Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Power of the Dog centres around a cold-hearted rancher who clashes with the new wife of his brother, all the while growing closer to her son from a former marriage.

Released in 2021, the flick received 12 Oscar nominations, with Campion winning Best Director, her second Academy Award. While it’s a slow burn indeed and won’t suit everyone’s tastes, The Power of the Dog is undoubtedly one of the best films of the last few years and worth a watch tonight.

It’s also been taken off Netflix, so even more of an excuse to catch it tonight!

Blockers – E4 – 10.05pm

John Cena and Leslie Mann star in this underrated 2018 comedy about parents attempting to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night.

The International – Great! Movies – 10.45pm

Clive Owen and Naomi Watts star in this action thriller as an Interpol agent and an American district attorney who team up to investigate corruption within the IBBC.
