The perfect movie for a late watch at the start of the week.
It is Monday once again and I for one could not be happier. Do you know why? Because there are some great movies on TV tonight, that’s why.
Anyway, if you’re in the mood to catch a flick or two this evening then have a look below at your options, which are pretty decent for the start of the week.
Gods of Egypt – FilmFour – 6.35pm
There was no reason to make a film this bad but they went and did it anyway. Watch at your own peril.
The Greatest Showman – FilmFour – 9pm
Hugh Jackman sings and dances his way through this musical biopic about famed circus entertainer P.T Barnum.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day – ITV4 – 9pm
The sequel to the first Terminator film sees a cyborg like the one sent to kill Sarah Connor now having to protect her son from an advanced killing machine.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan – TG4 – 9.30pm
Very nice, my wife, etc, etc.
Walk The Line – BBC Three – 10pm
Joaquin Phoenix stars as Johnny Cash in this 2005 biopic about the life and times of the iconic Country musician. Reese Witherspoon won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role as June Carter.
The Festival – FilmFour – 11.05pm
A simple premise of “man goes to music festival after his girlfriend dumps him” makes for some pretty funny exploits involving Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas.
The Elephant Man – BBC2 – 11.15pm
John Hurt stars in this eight-time Oscar-nominated 1980 classic as a kind-hearted man who is treated with disdain by the public because of his facial deformities. One of two David Lynch flicks among the movies on TV this evening.
The Purge: Anarchy – ITV4 – 11.50pm
Love them or hate them, there’s no denying The Purge flicks have their audience. This is the second of the ongoing franchise which has a sixth entry currently in the works.
Mulholland Drive – FilmFour – 1.05am

The second of the David Lynch movies on TV tonight is our pick of the bunch, and it’s a weird one. Lauded as his best work on screen, Mulholland Drive is a trippy, surrealist flick about an acting hopeful who arrives in Los Angeles and tries to solve the mystery of a car crash involving an amnesiac. It also features one of the most iconic jumpscares of all time.
As with most David Lynch projects, Mulholland Drive will leave you reeling from the bizarre nature and unconventional storytelling compared to most mainstream movies, but if you’re a fan of his style, you’ll no doubt fall in love with the twisty neo-noir. The perfect movie for a late watch at the start of the week.
