The first movie was a classic, but the sequel was SHOCKINGLY bad.
Between the 12 huge movies added to Prime Video and the 26 big movies added to Netflix, you’re not exactly left without film options this evening. But if you’re looking specifically for something on the telly, here are the movies on TV tonight…
I, Robot – FilmFour – 6.50pm
Will Smith’s big action sci-fi blockbuster set against the backdrop of Isaac Asimov’s classic novels, which was some high IQ stuff. Ditching most of that intelligence, this (admittedly very fun) movie is mostly about a guy who hates robots trying to protect his product placement shoes.
Quantum of Solace – ITV4 – 9pm
Arguably the worst of all of the Bond villains – he’s trying to buy… water? – but the action sequences are mostly pretty great.
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – FilmFour – 9pm
Our pick for tonight is Under Siege 2: Dark Territory… a movie that really falls into the so-bad-its-good category. After the proper greatness of the first movie, hopes were high for this train-set sequel. Unfortunately, between some truly shoddy action sequences and dodgy special effects, as well as a practically sleepwalking Steven Seagal, it turned out quite terrible. However, thanks to Eric Bogosian giving a truly unhinged villainous performance, and some crazed plot contrivances, the movie ends up being very fun, despite itself.
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory is also available to stream on Disney+ right now.

The Back-Up Plan – Comedy Central Extra – 10.05pm
Jennifer Lopez headlines this rom-com about a woman who gets pregnant via artificial insemination, only to meet the man of her dreams the very next day. 17% on Rotten Tomatoes tells you everything you need to know.
Kick-Ass 2 – BBC Three – 10.05pm
Another disappointing sequel, which added a great performance by Jim Carrey, but took away a lot of what made the first movie so uniquely entertaining.
Anchorman – FilmFour – 11.05pm
From this point on, it is only great movies for the rest of the night. Will Ferrell and gang have a blast as famous San Diego news reporters.
In The Heat of the Night – BBC Two – 11.15pm
The incredible Sidney Poitier stars in this crime drama about a police officer investigating the murder of a businessman in Mississippi, only to encounter the harsh racism within the southern states of America.
This Is Spinal Tap – BBC One – 11.40pm
“They’ve earned themselves a distinguished place in rock history as one of Britain’s loudest bands.”
Trading Places – FilmFour – 12.55am
Yes, it is a Christmas movie, but there is never a bad time to watch this comedy about the swapped fortunes of a snobby investor (Dan Aykroyd) and a con artist (Eddie Murphy).
