Budget 2024 has officially dropped and workers across the country can expect to pay less tax next year – as tax bands widen and the Rent Tax Credit is increased to €750.

Budget 2024 Tax Changes

  • The Rent Tax Credit will increase from €500 to €750.
  • Personal, PAYE and earned income credits will rise by €100 each.
  • The Standard Rate Band (which determines which earners are taxed at the higher rate) is now €42,000.
  • The home carer tax credit will increase by €100.
  • The single person carer credit will increase by €100.
  • The incapacitated child tax credit will increase by €100.
  • here will be a mortgage tax break worth up to €1,250 for homeowners who had a home loan between €80,000 and €500,000 at the end of last year. If you qualify, you will receive a 20% relief on increased interest paid on your mortgage between 2022 and 2023.
