5 terrifying Halloween attractions that will definitely give you a fright

Bump in the night

JOE

Spooky season has well and truly hit.

Halloween is just around that darkly lit corner.

It’s supposed to be the scariest night of the year, so instead of sticking a flashlight under your chin and telling hackneyed ghost stories, why not try out one these ghoulish attractions.

CarnEvil

CarnEvil is the West Of Ireland’s first scare attraction, housed in the haunted Printing Press of the Connacht Tribune in Galway, where, over 150 years ago, a seemingly innocent travelling carnival came to the city, only to leave its citizens so scarred and terrified, that all memories of it have been stricken from official records, never to be spoken of again. Until now…

Our own Eric Lalor recently took a trip there and found it incredibly scary. It runs until midnight on Halloween.

Derry City

Derry is officially the best city on the planet to spend Halloween in. The whole place gets a little creepy, with fireworks, events and street artists making it a very special place to be on October 31. The whole city is one big event!

Bram Stoker Festival, Dublin

What better way to celebrate Halloween than a festival dedicated to one of the best horror writers ever. The Bram Stoker festival takes place in Dublin from October 23-26. A full listing of events is available here.

The Nightmare Realm

If you’re in Cork this October and looking for a serious scare, then look no further. The Nightmare Realm is the place for you. It runs from the up until Halloween night and guarantees you a fright! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96wQ3THm2eU

Macnas Parade

The Galway street theatre have become infamous for their fantastic performances. This year they take to streets of Galway on Sunday, October 25 for what is guaranteed to be another terrifyingly brilliant event.

Only one week to go before Galway Halloween parade! #Macnas15
