Us men are busy creatures who rarely get time to ourselves and this can often lead to unnecessary stress. So here are five tips for relieving that pent-up stress.
Find some sort of arts and crafts hobby
Having a hobby of some sort is one of the best ways to relieve stress. You don’t have to be into football or any type of sport for that matter. Sport can often make your stress levels shoot through the roof, as most Arsenal fans have been finding out lately. So why not pick up a paint brush and let your creative juices flow, or you could finally get cracking on that Airfix Titanic replica that has been sitting in your mothers attic since you were 12-years-old. Anything to get your mind off whatever it is that’s stressing you out.
Laugh out loud
Even if you’re in the worst mood you’ve ever been in, laughing out loud will help you feel much better. Scientists have found that looking at someone laughing or hearing someone laughing has a direct effect on your own mood. YouTube is littered with hilarious videos of children falling over, talking dogs and epic fails that are sure to have you splitting your sides in no time.
Get your green fingers growing
It might not seem like one of the manliest things to do with your time but keeping your garden in order will help you to de-stress while you actually get something done. Sow your garden, plant some flowers or trim your hedges (steady on) whatever it takes to chill you out. You’ll also be getting some good old fresh air, which will surely help your health while helping you to think straight too.
Get a dog
Dog is mans best friend for a reason. You might feel like no one in the world cares about you, but when you come home from work a dog will always be there to show you love and affection. It really is hard to feel lonely or stressed out when there’s a little puppy roaming around the house. Even if they’re tearing lumps out of your sofa, it will get your mind off whatever is stressing you out.
Talk to someone, even if it’s on the internet
The easiest way to de-stress yourself is to tell someone what’s going on inside your head. Us men keep things locked up all too often and for some of us this pent-up stress gets too much. However, there’s always another option. Talking to someone will help you to get whatever it is that’s bothering you off your chest. You’ll also find that the other person might be able to shed some light on what’s going wrong on your end. If you’re too embarrassed to talk to someone face to face or you think your problem is too trivial then join a chat room and get things off your chest anomalously. There’s always someone willing to listen.
