A recent poll conducted by the Irish medical website IrishHealth.com has revealed what patients really think of the hospitals they’re admitted to.

The mankiest hospital in the land, according to the poll, was Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. It scored only 51 per cent on its hygiene standards making it one of the worst in the country. The results of the poll come from the ‘Rate My Hospital’ service which is run by the IrishHealth.com website.

So does Drogheda Hospital really have the worst hygiene standards out of over 50 hospitals? Well, almost 23,000 members of the public used the service over the past five years to make their complaints heard. So you can be safe knowing that the lads from Tallaght Hospital haven’t been voting against Drogheda in their droves.

The cleanest hospital in the country, as voted by you the public, was St Luke’s Hospital in Rathgar. It scored a massive 96 per cent on the cleanliness scale. The cleanest general hospital in the capital was Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown as it scored a respectable enough 78 per cent. Although, it is a hospital after all, so they should really be aiming for 100 per cent or as close as.

IrishHealth.com states that the ‘Rate My Hospital’ service is the largest database of health consumer views on the hospital service currently available. It’s also the only comprehensive independent ‘league table’ that scores hospital’s performance based on patient satisfaction. So basically, you’re not going to find this information out anywhere else.

To find out if your local hospital made the list of the dirtiest in the land check out more of the results on the IrishHealth.com website. And why not rate your local hospital too while you’re there. Sure, you might as well.
