Sick lately? Men with good immune systems are more attractive to women

According to research from the University of Abertay Dundee, Scotland, men with strong immune systems are seen as ‘more attractive’ to the opposite sex.

According to research from the University of Abertay Dundee, Scotland, men with strong immune systems are seen as ‘more attractive’ to the opposite sex.

The researchers noted that a strong immune system plays a greater role in attracting women, compared to having huge muscles or a hot bod. They say that men who have more testosterone generally have healthier immune systems and therefore are more attractive.

The researchers also discovered males with a strong immune response and higher levels of testosterone were given the highest attractiveness ratings by women.

Lower testosterone levels were linked to higher cortisol (stress hormone) levels. The researchers suggest that cortisol inhibits immune response. So basically the more stressed you are the worse your immune system will be – and the uglier you’ll look to women.

So why do our healthy brothers get all the girls? Well, the lads in Scotland believe that our female counterparts seem to follow a similar instinct that is seen in birds.

Birds tend to mate with the healthiest possible partner to ensure that their offspring are fit and healthy. So that must be why they call women ‘Birds’ in Dublin. Learn something new…
