Researchers in the States – Harvard if we’re to be exact – have led a study which has concluded that moving more and eating less will help you to lose fat. Sure we could have told them that.
In a move that proves some medical researchers have more money than they know what to do with, the newest diet on the market is now being called the “not rocket science weight loss formula”. The researchers claim that eating less fatty foods and doing more exercise is better than any other fad diet on the market.
The “not rocket science” weight loss plan was tested on over 2,500 obese Americans and it was found that up to 40 per cent of them managed to shed at least 5 per cent of their overall body weight. A further 20 per cent of the participants lost at least 10 per cent of their body weight over a 12-month period.
The study was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and the researchers concluded: “Those who exercised more and ate less fat were significantly more likely to lose weight.”
Co-author Dr Christina Wee, from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, US, said: “There are lots of fad diets out there as well as expensive over-the-counter medications that have not necessarily been proven to be effective, and it is important that Americans discuss product claims with their doctor before trying such products.”
So instead of eating only celery and drinking your own p*ss for five weeks, just eat less crappy foods and go for a walk now and again. JOE can even lend you a hand by showing you a few tasty and healthy recipes, which you can find here.
