Are you unhappy at work? According to new research, it might explain why your back is hurting you so much.
Research from Australia claims to provide ‘further evidence’ that a positive attitude towards your work is a major part of chronic pain management. So moaning about work will only make your sore back feel worse and having a sore back makes work even more intolerable – and the wicked cycle continues.
The researchers were able to show how one in three workers ended up developing long-term back pain that affected their work and social lives – even though there was no medical explanation for their back pain, such as a slipped disk or a torn muscle.
The study also found that workers who felt they were in a dead-end job were more likely to complain of persistent lower back pain, compared to those who were happy in their job.
According to the researchers, having a positive attitude towards work can have a major impact on your lower back pain.
We wonder if the researchers came up with that while sitting in their nice comfy laboratory or whether it was on their 10th hour of picking orders on a Friday evening. Who knows?
