Adrian Shanahan sent us this on Monday in the hope that we would share it.
Having seen our piece about a son returning to his mother for Christmas on Monday morning, Adrian Shanahan wanted to share a more sombre but equally important message of hope.
Adrian has been through a particularly tough time in terms of his mental health, but is full of hope for the future and in particular that people can give the government the impetus to put acceptable mental health crisis facilities in place in Ireland.
While he accepts that messages on social media and apps such as these can be a help to some who are suffering from stress or anxiety, he is keen to point out that only “qualified, competent, professional help” can help those in very serious distress.
He has a very powerful message, and he delivers it beautifully.
