I had a great Saint Patricks weekend, which included a few pints of the black stuff followed by a cheeky takeaway on the way home, so needless to say I was feeling nervous about my Weight Watchers meeting this week.
Name: Francis Ryan
Starting weight: 15 stone 3 pounds
Current weight: 14 stone 11 pounds
Thankfully I still managed to lose two pounds bringing my total weight loss to six pounds. How, I hear you say. I just stuck to my ProPoints, saved some for the weekend and followed the advice of my Weight Watchers Leader! Easy. So, I’m not too far off a half stone and the Pope decided to name himself after me as well…can’t be complaining with all that going on.
Sticking to the ProPoints system involves eating a small bit more than what I’m used to and snacking throughout the day. The key is that I’m actually eating better than I had been, which allows me to eat more. I’m really getting used to the idea of not arriving at the dinner table hungry and more importantly, I’m not leaving stuffed which is an issue for us Irish lads.
I had been eating muesli every day for breakfast but that had started to become boring so I switched to porridge with jam and it’s nice for a change, my energy levels are up which means and I’m less likely to be sitting around on the couch. This week I went out and bought a bike rack and it’s brilliant, Linda and I have taken our bikes out three times already, making it the most use the bikes have seen this year.

My attitude to going out doors seems better too, I’m not letting the weather dictate what I should do and I am just getting on with it getting air into my lungs, it’s all down to the type of food I’m eating – not only have I noticed the shift in weight but also in my moods. When I think of how energy sapping regular fast food can be, it’s no wonder fitness, enthusiasm and a healthy shape start to slip through your fingers.
I’m really getting into the programme and hoping to continue the good work.
