Bad things happen when you’re tired and the first week back at college has to be one of the most tiring weeks of the year.
So to help you lot shake off those sleepy heads, JOE, with the help of BOOST, have decided to put together a 10-point plan for surviving the first week back at college.
So shake off those cobwebs, and let’s do this…
So you now have a 9am lecture on a Friday!?
The answer is simple: go out on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday and promise yourself a lovely big breakfast treat every time you get up on time for that early lecture.
Last term you were way too tired to separate your notes
And that didn’t end too well, did it? Remember answering your biology exam with a line from Ulysees? Get your sh*t together early this year and have separate notepads for each class.
Spend your money wisely
When you’re tired, cooking seems like a monumental task. Trust us, learning a few recipes and actually making the effort to cook will ensure you’ve a few extra quid left at the end of the month.
Clean up after yourself
When you’re exhausted, cleaning up can be a gigantic pain. That being said, having house mates who know you as the dirty guy is a much worse fate.
Don’t let your social life take over
Have a good time… but not too much of a good time. Get your priorities in order.
Visit the library
Good habits should be picked up early. So get up out of that bed and get to the library every now and again.
Sign up to societies
If you’re anything like JOE, you don’t want to do anything when you’re tired. Nonetheless, you should push yourself to join a few societies. You’ll be surprised how much energy you gain when that girl with the nice smile asks you to go to an event.
Look after yourself
And that girl with the nice smile won’t look twice if you end up going to said event in your pyjamas. Get it together, man!
Get some sleep
Who would have thought sleep would prevent fatigue… we know, we’re as shocked as you are.
Don’t worry too much
It is only the first week and your body will catch up soon enough, so don’t worry too much if you’re a little tired. You’ll get there!
So there you have it, a 10 step guide to getting through your first week back at college. Remember, exams are ONLY 12 weeks away!
