1. Getting tagged in bad photos from a night out
You go out, you have a good time. You wake up the next morning and Facebook is covered with pictures of you looking like Shrek’s ugly brother.
Even worse are those pictures of you doing something you probably shouldn’t be doing.
It will take you all day to un-tag the evidence and even then it’s too late; everyone knows the first thing you do after a night out is check Facebook to see who got tagged.
2. Changing your relationship status on Facebook
It’s that awkward moment that just keeps going.
You go from ‘in a relationship’ to ‘single’ and your phone is hopping with texts from people you half know asking you if you’re OK?
Some people try to make it seem like a good thing by liking it or posting things like “Free, single and on the prowl, lol, ;)”
And then there are those who are too lazy to text you and post public questions underneath, expecting you to reveal all to the internet. Lovely. But not a chance, lads.

Even worse is ‘single’ to ‘in a relationship’.
More likes than a birthday post and more interest than a house party.
Again you get nosey texts from people you half know and public questions asking you to name and shame your significant other.
It’s a challenging time to be alive.
3. Getting caught in the act of Instagramming food pics
That moment where you are crouched over your food with your phone at a funny angle is never good, and the guilty look you have from partaking in something that genuinely irks most people on social media is what really kills you.
Expect ridicule. Lots of it.

4. A Snapchat screenshot
Yeah, this one is can be pretty nasty.
Snapchat is where people send the silliest of things because it only lasts for a few seconds, but when those few seconds become immortalised, that impulsive shot of your bum may start to seem like a bad idea.
Don’t worry, they can never prove it’s you but you know who to take off your Snapchat list. #badform
6. Sending a personal message in a group WhatsApp
Whether it’s to your mam, your girlfriend or that young one you’ve been working on, always make sure you’re not in a WhatsApp group first.
It’s the type of thing that leads to nicknames and longstanding jokes that go on for eternity. In our experience, it mostly happens to Junior B hurlers who decide to skip training because they’re hungover/with a girl.
You’ll have to get used to being called ‘honey bun sweet cheeks.’
7. Getting caught pulling a sickie through your social media posts
This is a rookie move, but one people seem to make more often than you would think.
Whether it’s as simple as gloating on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or posting pics when you are supposed to be bedridden, getting caught out through social media is a big embarrassment.
Just hope you get to keep your job.

8. Getting your secrets publicly outed in a squabble
This one I’ve seen in action and it is messy.
A break up goes bad and Facebook is awash with information either passively aggressively implying certain things about a certain someone, or outright shaming them.
It’s not a good way to end a relationship, but it’s one way of making it permanent.

9. Getting notifications in an important meeting.
You’re sitting in a meeting, paying attention and suddenly a phone starts beeping; the boss starts glaring at the room and while you are still wondering who’s about to be killed, you realise it’s you.

It’s a rough one and it makes it even worse when it’s just a notification to tell you it’s someone’s birthday tomorrow on Facebook.
Sakes.
10. Getting trolled
Something that is happening more and more these days and for anyone who has experienced it, I’m sure it’s frightening.
But just remember the internet is where a lot of people go to kill boredom so take it all with a pinch of salt.
Sure why did you read this article?
What’s that? You were bored?
