5 food joints that NEED to set up shop in Ireland

Sooner rather than later, lads

Carl Kinsella

It physically hurts to write this list.

1) Dunkin Donuts

At 300 calories-per-donut, Dunkin Donuts is surely the primary cause of J1 weight-gain. Nevertheless, I am confident that we would welcome their arrival to Irish shores with open arms and open mouths.

According to the Dunkin Donuts website, there are about a hundred types of donut you can get from Dunkin Donuts of a morning – which is a damn sight better than usual choice we are offered: ‘sugary’ or ‘jam’.

Do we even HAVE a National Donut Day?

Anyway, if Dunkin Donuts don’t want to come here, we will settle for Krispy Kreme.

2) Pâtissez

This Canberra patisserie is doing the work of God. They have recently garnered some well-deserved international attention for their monstrously delicious-looking milkshakes. I specify that they are delicious-looking. I do not know that they are delicious because they cannot be bought in Ireland.

3) IHOP

By now it should be apparent to you that nothing on this list is going to be good for your health. And perhaps we should be grateful that we don’t have immediate access to all of these semi-dangerous food stuffs.

But on the other hand (the hand reaching out for delicious pancakes that are across the Atlantic Ocean), perhaps not.

4) Bodean’s BBQ

Pitt Bros. have very deliciously filled a gap in the Irish market for barbecued meat… But as long as there are notches left to go on my belt, there is more room in the market for meat.

Bodean’s, a London-based BBQ restaurant, brings the meat in generous portions and will receive an immediate, unquestioned stamp of JOE-approval if they decide to grace our fair isle.

5) Pizza Union

Milano’s-quality pizza made fresh to order from less than four quid.

Pizza Union is another restaurant that our London cousins are currently enjoying, presumably while they snicker at us for paying way more money for way worse pizza.
