Let’s be honest; college is great ‘n all, but there are certain things we all miss from home.
For instance, you have to fend for yourself and that’s not much fun when you’ve got a hangover and your housemate has nicked all your grub.
Yeah, there are definitely some home comforts you just miss when you go to college.
Here are seven of ours.
Home cooked meals
Wouldn’t it be great not to have to rely on suspicious looking noodles and 2 litre bottles of own-brand cola? God be with the days…
Sympathy
If you’re sick and at home, your mammy will most likely make sure that everything is in order for you to have a relaxing day on the couch. If you’re sick and in college, your housemate will most likely utter ‘will ya man up’ and ‘are you going to finish those noodles?’
A clean house
Student gaffs can get out of order fairly lively and once you fall behind the cleaning, it’s fairly difficult to catch up. Going home to a house that’s not a tipp is good for the mind.
Warmth
Putting on the heat is an expense many students try to avoid. An extra jumper or two usually does the job. Not when you’re at home – turn the heat up to the maximum and take out the summer clothes again.
Being welcomed home
When you arrive home, people are glad to see you. When you arrive into your college accommodation, people are wondering if you brought biscuits.
Laundry
Avoiding the ‘sniff to see’ game when finding clean clothes is a luxury most students don’t bother with. Going home changes all that… sure you’re mammy wouldn’t leave you stuck.
Peace & quiet
The chances of your family having a house party at midnight on a Wednesday are pretty slim… unless you’ve the coolest family ever.
