9 mistakes we all make while Christmas shopping

The shopping outside is frightful...

JOE

Christmas. Shopping.

Two words that are perfectly cheerful when uttered on their own, but when combined, they manage to strike fear into the heart of almost every Irish man. Christmas shopping can be a gargantuan task that’s full of pitfalls, challenges and mistakes.

Of course, you could just give your loved one the chance of a lifetime.

Tickets for the National Lottery’s Christmas Millionaire Raffle are €20 and a prize of €1 million must be won in the draw on New Year’s Eve. It’s a limited offer with only 350,000 tickets on sale so get yours now!

If you do decide to venture into the unknown and tackle your Christmas shopping head-on, there are a few common mistakes which you should aim to avoid…

Buying a present that is actually for you

*Note to self* just because you enjoy something, it doesn’t mean the person you’re buying it for will enjoy it too.

You can return that complete box-set of Knight Rider.. your Granny will DEFINITELY not appreciate it.

Leaving it all to the last minute

According to rumour, some of the 2014 Christmas Eve queues are only reaching the check-outs now.

Missing hints

Keep a look-out for stray ‘Tiffany’s’ boxes left around the house.

Misreading hints

That doesn’t mean she wants you to legally change your name to Tiffany.

Re-gifting unwanted presents

If you don’t want the novelty socks, what makes you think anyone else will?

Buying novelty or ‘funny’ gifts

This should really go without saying… remember the socks *see above*.

Ignoring the fine print

Be careful when buying someone a subscription package. It may be cheap at the start… things change though.

Letting someone else do the shopping for you

January is tough enough without receiving a credit card bill that’s longer than most Russian novels.

Giving up

It may seem like a tough task, but there is a simple solution. Give someone the gift to dream.

Get them a ticket for the National Lottery’s Christmas Millionaire Raffle.

Tickets are €20 and it’s a limited offer with only 350,000 tickets on sale. Ticket sales close at 8pm on New Year’s Eve, although they may well sell out by then so get yours today.
