9 people you always meet on Dublin Bus

Which one are you?

JOE

Chances are, there a good number of you who are reading this while travelling on a Dublin Bus.

And if you are, you are probably sitting next to one of these 9 people… or maybe you are one of them.

The Chatterboxes

This person is probably lovely, which makes our hatred for them all the more irrational. This person WILL try to talk to you and it doesn’t matter if you’re on the 6:20am bus to work or the Nitelink bus home.

Just make the most of free wi-fi available and sink your head into your phone… that should do the trick.

The Legroom lover

This person sits with their legs so far apart they’re actually in different timezones.

The Sleepyhead

We’ve all been this person at some point. They’re actions are completely forgivable, as long as they don’t fall asleep on your shoulder.

The choosy one

If you’re sitting in this person’s favourite seat you’re sure to get evil daggers. They’ll probably sit beside you even if there are plenty of other seats free, just to spite you – the fecker.

The wannabe DJ

This person has his tunes at full blast through his headphones. Prepare for some very heavy bass being blasted into your general direction.

The actual DJ

This person is usually found on the top deck of the bus and they’re usually in the midst of their teenage years. They don’t care about bus etiquette or headphones and you’re listening to their tunes whether you like it or not.

The Dom Joly

“Hello… yeah, I’m on a bus.” Overhearing conversations is part of taking the bus. The best way to get by it is to pretend you are listening to a pitch for a new television show. Just don’t ask them for spoilers.

The Nosey parker

Whether you’re browsing Reddit, JOE.ie or just going over some notes on the way to college, they’ll sit there peering down his nose at whatever it is you’re at. Have fun with it: open up your text messages and write “stop looking at my phone.”

The one you fancy

Having a ‘bus crush’ is a thing and we don’t care what anyone says. Prepare to look forward to one journey every day because of this person.
