A publican from Mayo is trying to break a world record for the most beers on tap in one pub

Pints?

That’s an awful lot of beer.

A publican originally from Claremorris in Mayo looks set to break the Guinness World record for the amount of draught beers on tap in one pub.

Niall Hanley has recently opened the Raleigh Beer Garden in Raleigh, North Carolina and if you’re not satisfied by the range of drinks he has to offer, then you sir, truly are a beer snob.

According to the Mayo News, the bar will house a quite astonishing 378 draught beers on tap, 100 of which are from North Carolina. That’s right, 378!

Such is the vast amount of available beers, in fact, that customers will download the bar menu as an app, with the available beers often changing hourly depending on demand.

Speaking to the Mayo News, Hanley said: “We have to have 378 to beat the record and they [the beers] all have to be pulling in line the day the guys from the Guinness World Records come out. It’s a big venue. We’d be averaging 300 plus kegs a week.”

Niall has been in America since the age of 24 and runs a number of pubs in the States, while his brother Paul runs the Western Hotel in Claremorris.

If you’re heading on a J1 next summer, meanwhile, Niall says he’d be more than happy to provide some Irish visitors with a few jobs.

“I would love more Irish working here, Niall added.

“Students on J1s are inclined to go to New York and San Francisco but I love to get a few more over here.”

We wish Niall all the best with his new venture and can only say that God bless the poor soul who tries every single one of the 378 beers in one sitting.
