Those attempting to escape the worst heat-wave in the history of heatwaves can breathe a sigh of relief – Aer Lingus has said it intends to operate a full schedule from all its bases from today.
There were fears that a range of routes would be hit by cancellations after pilots said that they were looking at initiating strike action.
Some 30,000 passengers a day were looking at having to resort to swimming to their destinations or even going via Ryanair if the action went ahead.
However, the airline and the pilots kissed and made up after last minute talks over the weekend.
Aer Lingus said it will “buy back” leave days from pilots who said they were coming under unreasonable pressure from new roster arrangements.
“Customers who have already changed bookings to another date may change back to their original planned date of travel if they so wish via aerlingus.com,” said the airline.
