If you’re not having much luck with the opposite sex at the minute, and those selfies and terrible chat up lines your hilarious witticisms on Tinder just aren’t doing the trick, this may help you.
According to a study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and SUNY Buffalo, the art of storytelling isn’t dead as women find a man with the ability to tell a good story very attractive.
The authors of the study think this may be because it signals that the men are high-status.
In the study, people read descriptions of men and women, some of which included whether or not the person in question was a good storyteller.
The study found that women found men who were good at spinning a yarn more attractive as a long-term partners than men who were only average storytellers.
On the opposite side, men didn’t find women who were good storytellers any more attractive because of the trait.
So you heard it here folks, get onto your dad or grandad and ask them to impart some of their storytelling wisdom on you, it just might help you get yourself a date.*
