Please be warned, if you watch this video, you may find yourself contemplating the ‘positive future’ of electric vehicles.

Meet the Audi e-tron spyder. Don’t be afraid of the thoughts of this ‘electricity-machine’ powering you up the motorway, as this is the type of car that would ‘break you in’ to the idea, so to speak. It’s an electric-hybrid, due to it still having a diesel engine, which means a 300 hp twinturbo V6 TDi engine is located on the rear axle and two electric motors, which produce 64 kW, are located on the front axle.

The car features a sneak peek at what Audi’s ‘cars of the future’ will look like. The sleek design follows suit with the mean, straight, sharp-edges that have become all the rage in sports cars these days. New lights are also features on the car, which make it look like a deadly assassin and a newly designed grill looks as menacing as Batman with a smile. We won’t even mention the knife-like rims.

The one single feature that won our hearts was the retracting badge that opens up to allow you to recharge the beast. Pretty cool party trick, huh? The car is reported to hit 100 kph in around 4.6 seconds and a top speed is “electronically governed” at 249 kph. Not bad for a one off prototype reportedly worth around €2.7 million.

Is the e-Tron cool enough to switch our alliances to electric? Shockingly, no. Still – it’s too cool for comfort.
