College is back in and every penny counts.

Thank God for inventing student cards. These little rectangular beauties helped JOE to survive our college experience while it was valid, and beyond. We’ve compiled a quick list below of some of our favourite places with student discounts in Dublin.

Ray’s Pizza

MIRAMAR, FL - NOVEMBER 18: Terry Cheung prepares a pizza pie to be served to students at Everglades High School on November 18, 2011 in Miramar, Florida. Monday evening the United States Congress passed a spending bill with a provision that would allow schools to count pizza as a vegetable. (Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

If you want a slice of New York style pizza in the heart of Dublin than Ray’s is just the place. Located beside the Central Bank, you can watch the skater kids injure themselves while you enjoy the thinnest crust or a tastier tomato base in town. Their staff are friendly, their prices won’t break the (central) bank and their student deals are not to be missed.

Crackbird

Crackbird and their crack team of chefs are the most reliable chicken specialists in town. Their two-for-one deals during the week comes with enough poultry to keep you fed for days. It’s an ideal location whether you’re dining in or dropping by with friends for wings on a night out.

Leo Burdock’s Traditional Fish and Chips

Leo Burdock’s is a Dublin institution. It’s attracted many the famous fan including Bruce Springsteen (who gave the restaurant a shout out during his most recent trip to Croke Park) and Academy Award winner Cuba Good Jr. It’s famous fish and chips are available at a 10% discount for anyone holding a valid student card. Tolteca

With five locations in Dublin already and a restaurant in Galway, Tolteca is earning a reputation for producing some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico. Their menu also has gringo food for the less adventurous pallet. Their student discount deals are not to be mixed although if you’re going there for lunch try to be early to avoid the ever present massive queue.

Mongolian Barbecue

If you fancy something a bit different for lunch, the Mongolian Barbeque has a menu filled with exotic cuisine with discounts galore. If you’ve got a bit of scratch, their All You Can Eat Stir fry Buffet is €13.90. Their Early Bird discount is available everyday until 7PM. €6.90 Lunch Bowl Special is also available everyday from 12pm to 4.30pm. Their student discount applies to off break times.
