BBQ This Weekend: Shake up your steak with this Brazilian recipe with a twist

“Mmmm… steak.”

There’s never a time that sentence isn’t appropriate, but it’s even better when you can sizzle it on a barbeque in the summer time.

Hellmann’s know that too and they’ve teamed up with YouTube star and grilling king DJ BBQ to help convince non-grillers that food cooked over a fire is the way forward.

Like this delicious Pampas Picanha steak.

Here’s how it’s done.

Full Recipe: Serves 8

Ingredients

  • 1kg Picanha steak (Rump or sirloin with all the fat still attached)
  • 1tsp of Colman’s English Mustard powder Salt and pepper

BBQ Dipping sauce:

  • 3tbsp Hellmann’s Mayonnaise with Olive Oil
  • 1tbsp Hellmann’s American BBQ Sauce
  • ½tsp Hellmann’s Hot Habanero sauce
  • 2 cloves smoked garlic
  • Juice 1/2 lemon

Method

  • Score the fat on the meat and rub generously with the mustard powder. Seal in a bag and marinate in the fridge overnight.
  • Prepare a BBQ.
  • Place the steak fat-side down onto the BBQ just away from the coals to slowly render down the fat. Turn after 10 minutes and place over the higher heat.
  • Brown off the rest of the beef and rest on a chopping board for 5 minutes.
  • Slice the beef into thick steaks and season with salt and pepper.
  • Grill the steaks on the high heat again until medium rare.
  • Rest for 5 minutes and serve with the dipping sauce.
