Campaigners appalled by London Fashion Week outfit made from 3,000 cow nipples

Let’s be honest, we’ve all worn at least a couple of outfits made from cow nipples (no, just us?), but 3,000? That’s a bit much.

Now British designer Rachel Freire has came under fire for an outfit she revealed at London Fashion Week (pictured above), which she created from cow and yak nipples. The ratio was 90% cow nipples, in case you’re wondering. You weren’t though, were you?

Freire’s collection – which she actually named ‘Nippleocalypse’ – was denounced by Labour MP Kerry McCarthy, who described the creation as “grotesque”.

“It seems to me absolutely grotesque,” she said. “I think most people will find it sickening and repulsive.”

Freire’s has defended the outfit by stating that the nipples are ‘recycled’, meaning that the cows were already dead and let’s face it, are used in food manufacturing and the manufacturing of leather goods with a minimum of outrage.

“I create fashion using material that would otherwise end up on the scrap heap,” the designer said.

“What I am doing is recycling. The people criticising are clearly clueless about the amount of leather wasted on a daily basis.”

Too much cow nipple for you or should we all wait for the high street ‘faux cow nipple’ version instead? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
