The winner of the Continental Irish Van of the Year was announced yesterday and the VW Crafter was crowned as the van to have for 2012.
The Irish Motoring Writers Association named the Volkswagen Crafter the Continental Irish Van of the Year 2012 in Dublin yesterday. The VW Crafter finished with a total of 44 points, ahead of the Fiat Ducato EU5 who finished with 38 points. In third place came the Fiat Doblo with 29 points.
Niall Phillips of Volkswagen Group Ireland accepted the award from Paddy Murphy of award sponsors, Continental Tyres Ireland. Mr Murphy said, “The VW Crafter is a worthy winner of the Irish Van of the Year title, ideally suited to the needs of Ireland’s commercial vehicle operators.
“In the current tough market conditions for commercial vehicles, we are sure that the award will contribute in no small way to the on-going success of the Crafter.”
The winner of the Continental Irish Car of the Year 2012 was the nimble little Kia Rio.
The VW Crafter succeeds the Mercedes Benz Vito as the Continental Irish Van of the Year.
