Paul Hogan, the star of the classic 80s movie Crocodile Dundee, has finally resolved a seven-year legal battle in Australia over alleged unpaid taxes.

You may remember hearing something in the news about Paul Hogan way back in 2010. At the time, Mr Hogan was attending his mother’s funeral in Australia when the taxman swooped in and stopped Hogan from returning to his gaff in L.A. They kept him in Oz for two weeks before letting him return home.

According to the taxman, Mr Hogan and his friend, producer John Cornell, owed more than €115million dating back to the first Crocodile Dundee movie. That’s a fair whack of money which any taxman would be delighted to get his hands on, we think you’ll agree.

Well, Crocodile Dundee fans can now rest easy knowing the beloved knife-wielding, snake-eating, ass-kicking Aussie won’t be stuck behind bars anytime soon.

A statement issued through Hogan’s lawyer, Andrew Robinson, said: “they and their related entities have reached a settlement with the commissioner of taxation on a ‘without admission’ basis.

“The parties have agreed that the terms of the settlement are to be confidential, but as part of the settlement the departure prohibition order issued against Mr Hogan has been revoked by the commissioner.”

Speaking about the settlement Mr Hogan said, “I am glad it is all behind me now, it will be nice not to have to talk about tax all the time.”

Mr Hogan always denied any wrongdoing.

If you’re not familiar with Paul Hogan or the Crocodile Dundee franchise (shame on you) then check out the clip below.

Frankly, the clip below is the whole reason this story was written in the first place.
