When you get to this age it’s time to stop going to nightclubs

No more Disco Stu for you.

JOE

Time to hang up the disco shoes.

It’s hard to admit you’re getting old. You want to act as young as you feel but sadly, sometimes you just have to call it a day and leave your disco diva days behind you.

According to a survey by Currys PC World, if you are born in the year 1980 or before, it’s time for you to give up your disco dancing.

While 37 is the age to stop heading to nightclubs, they also added that if you’re over 30, you would much rather spend a night in front of the television than out on the lash with your friends.

Well over 50% of the people who responded to the survey said that they would rather be in front of the fire at home instead of having an expensive night out.

Surprisingly, nearly 20% of people said they would rather stay at home and stalk people on Facebook rather than a night on the tiles while nearly double that said they preferred scrolling through social media than socialising on a night out.

There are many other factors that stop people from heading out such as the effort of getting dressed up (20%), the hassle of getting a babysitter (12%) and the difficulty of booking a taxi (21%).

Matt Walburn of Currys PC World said: “The Great Indoors study recognises the fact that there comes a time when we appreciate our home comforts more than a hectic social life and it can often be a drag to play the social butterfly at parties and nights out.”

He added: “It’s now almost impossible to get bored at home, with endless box sets and the latest technology, such as 4K TV, enhancing the in-house experience, so much, that it often surpasses its ‘outdoor’ equivalent.”
