Dublin ranks very highly on this list of the best cities in the world to live

Paul Moore

Our capital has beaten some very famous cities.

There’s nothing quite like a weekend break abroad to beat the blues associated with the Irish weather but it seems that life in Baile Átha Cliath is pretty good, especially since the capital was named as the 33rd best city in the world to live in.

The 18th Mercer Quality of Living survey has ranked Dublin ahead of major cities like Barcelona, New York, London and Paris. The survey gauged a variety of issues including education, health, environment, social and economic conditions, personal safety, crime and many others.

Belfast is the only other city from the 32 counties that makes the list, coming in at number 64 while Switzerland dominates the top 10 with two cities raking very highly.

Here’s the top 10.

1) Vienna
2) Zurich
3) Auckland
4) Munich
5) Vancouver
6) Dusseldorf
7) Frankfurt
8) Geneva
9) Copenhagen
10) Sydney
