Dublin to get its first ‘craft beer only’ pub from next week

The Beer Market will be among the first pubs of its kind in the world

Dublin is getting its first pub dedicated solely to selling craft beers.

The Beer Market will open on High Street near Christchurch in the capital from next week, with beers offered for sale not by name but by numbered tap.

According to The Irish Times, a similar venture in Barcelona – BierCaB – is proving popular in Catalunya.

The Beer Market will be owned by Galway Bay Brewery, which has previously opened pubs that sell craft beers alongside established names. Against The Grain in Dublin and the Oslo bar is Salthill are just two of its premises.

Operations manager Andy Byrne confirmed that The Beer Market will have neither live music nor television screens, with the focus purely on the best beers you may have never tasted before.

“There are no confusions or distractions. We have a number of bars already, but we want to diversify a little bit,” he said.

“This is a step up. If you are into your craft beers, you want to search out the best beers. It will be a rarity to come into a place like this and not find a beer you haven’t found before.”
