Our gadget of the week this week is the über cool Iqua SUN, the world’s first solar powered Bluetooth headset.
Here’s a question: why use electricity when you can harness the power of the sun, for free? That’s what the makers of the world’s first solar powered Bluetooth headset are asking us. In fairness to them, it’s a good question.
The Iqua SUN pretty much gives you total freedom to take your calls wherever you want without worrying that you might drop your phone. Perfect for anglers really. The Iqua SUN headset has some seriously cool features, including the fact that you can charge the headset anywhere it catches direct sunlight.
That means you will have unlimited operating time whether it’s chilling on your car’s dashboard, beside a window or anywhere where the solar cells of the headset can catch sunlight. Basically, you’re getting free electricity if the sun is shining, and we all love free stuff.
Some other handy features include an answer/end/reject call button, last number redial function, voice dial (when supported by mobile phone) and volume control.

Lightweight and extremely comfortable
Unlike some other similar products out there, the Iqua SUN is small, discrete, lightweight and surprisingly comfortable to wear. We had the luxury to test one out here in the office and it got the thumbs up from us. We’ve tried out headsets in the past, but they can leave you feeling like it’s going to fall out or that you’re wearing a Storm Trooper helmet. That wasn’t the case with the Iqua SUN.
The headset’s lithium polymer battery provides up to 9 hours talk time and a massive 200 hours standby power. When your headset eventually dies off (sadly, it’s inevitable), a full recharge only takes two hours to complete, once you plug it into a wall socket that is.
The Iqua SUN headset is the perfect tool for anyone who is constantly on the go. Motorists will love this little device as it will never be too far away from direct sun light and it’s something that your awl lad will undoubtedly love this fathers day.
If you want to get your hands on the world’s first solar powered Bluetooth headset, also dubbed “the greenest headset available”, then head over to the Electric Ireland online store here where the Iqua SUN can be yours for just €60.98.
