The EU is surveying people to see if we should stop having to put the clocks back or forward

Rudi Kinsella

We could be saying goodbye to daylight savings time, and you can have your say.

Every single person in the world is guilty of waking up the day after you’re supposed to put your clocks back and having literally no idea what time it is.

You have the fear.

Was I supposed to put the clocks backwards or forwards? Does that mean we lost an hour sleep or not? Does my phone update it automatically? What year is it!?

Well, we might be saying goodbye to that feeling forever.

The European Commission is polling citizens to see if daylight saving is really necessary.

Daylight Savings Time is the practice of turning the clock ahead as warmer weather approaches, and back again as it becomes colder.

For all of the countries who recognise daylight saving time, clocks go forward one hour in the summer, and back again in the winter.

This means we get an extra hour of daylight during the warmer months, and an extra morning daylight when it chills.

And you get a say on whether or not it stays.

You can take part in the survey here.

The survey will remain open until 17 August.
