Data released by the global dating app Happn has found that the Irish accent is the third sexiest in Europe, behind only Italian and French.
The poll of 1,000 people showed that a quarter of people felt that Italian was the sexiest accent – who are we to argue? They did produce Andrea Pirlo after all.
Next on the list was French, on 23%, with Ireland in third on 19% – proving for once and all that silver-tongued devils from Athlone to Borris-in-Ossory need only open their mouths to charm those of the opposite, or same, sex.
Spanish was fourth on 16%, and then a big drop down to Sweden on 5%.
The top ten was completed by Russian, Portuguese, German, Dutch and Greek.
Not a sign of the English.
