Expectations v Reality: Your Driving Test

JOE

Ready to trade in those nasty L plates for a brand new set of cool Ns?

The driving test is one of the most confusing experiences an Irish person can have.

You thought you were a good driver. Your friends told you you were a good driver. But you’re not, YOU’RE SH*T.

Maybe that was a bit extreme, but we’re not one for mincing our words here at JOE. You need to know the truth.

You may have some expectations, but the reality is totally different. Luckily, you have JOE to put you on the right path.

thankkkk

Expectation: Doing it in your home town will increase your chances.

Reality: Doing it in your home town won’t make the slightest bit of difference.

One of JOE’s friends did his driving test in his home town. All was going well until he stopped at the traffic lights. When he was at a standstill a friend he owed money to came over and knocked on the window.

He quickly drove away to avoid paying the mate. Needless to say, he failed.

ohshit

Expectation: Sweet talking the instructor will mean you definitely pass.

Reality: We don’t want to be mean, but these people are cyborgs.

No matter how nice you are to an inspector, they simply won’t care. You’d be better off trying to get a tear from a stone.

Sure Buzz even bought his inspector an ice-cream and still had no luck.

ExpectationYour family and friends will be sympathetic if you fail.

RealityYour family and friends will be disappointed there is not another designated driver around.

Don’t expect any sympathy if you come home with a fail notice. Your friends and family were hoping to have another person to share the driving duties with.

Who’s going to drive everyone to Sea Sessions now?

Expectation: You’ll definitely pass if you do it in your own car.

Reality: You’ll be on course to pass until your car breaks down, like it always does.

You may be more comfortable in your own car, but that’s probably because it’s a piece of rusty junk. And before you ask, yes you do lose points for breaking down.

etern

Expectation: If you’re destined to fail, they’ll wrap it up early.

Reality: You’ll be made suffer to the very end. They might even throw in an extra hill-start for good measure.

We’d should add that if things aren’t going your way, just remember you can always take it again and there is actually no reason at all to panic.

So there you have it, everything you need to know about taking your driving test.

If you pass, could you pick us up at six?

Cheers.

Sprite, the truth is refreshing.
