Feature: Love and hate is a very thin line when it comes to Facebook

We have such mixed emotions

JOE

Facebook has transformed the social scene of the modern world.

We no longer communicate the way we used to, nowadays its all likes and hashtags and the crux of it all is Facebook.

We have a lot to thank Mr Zuckerberg for, but there are a lot of things on Facebook we could do without as well.

Here are a few of most people’s pet hates from the social media giant.

Reasons to hate Facebook

Baby pictures

The amount of baby pictures on Facebook is outrageous to say the least.

It’s just a thought but perhaps they should be mediated the same way nudity is, there are only so many pictures of babies doing absolutely nothing you can take.

Even worse is the narration that comes with the picture; “Here’s my baby doing her special winky face.” The child is doing nothing, she is not even looking at you and she has no idea she is getting her photo taken.

Stop this madness.

Emotional outbursts

Facebook has become a safe haven for people to release whatever pent up frustration they have gathered that day and frankly it can be a bit upsetting.

Who wants to scroll down through their news feed to read several loud aggressive, mis-spelled rants about how long it took them to get a chocco-mocca-latte?

No thanks.

Self righteous preachers

Even worse than the emotional outbursts are the self righteous preachers who make you feel bad about everything.

These are the people who use their social medium to berate certain elements of society deemed unsavoury or unsatisfactory to their impossibly high standards.

They preach about Global warming, cruelty to animals and cyber bullying while sitting in a Range Rover, tweeting sanctimonious shite and eating a Big Mac.

Hypocrites.

Attention seekers

These are the people who post a million selfies a day and tag their every activity down to their bowel movements.

You know where they have been on holidays, who they went with, where they work and what they do on the weekend, and you only meet them that one time down the pub with your buddy.

Too much information.

Of course there is a reason we spend almost every free moment scrolling our news feed or checking up on all the attention seekers, emotional outbursts, sanctimonial preachers and baby pictures and that’s because Facebook brings us so many things that bring a smile to our face.

Reasons to love Facebook

Viral videos

If not Facebook, where else would you be able to find several clips of people falling over?

Facebook is awash with amateur videos of people doing some truely hilarious stuff and it’s sad to think that without Zuckerberg’s brainchild we might have missed out on those moments of hilarity.

Snooping on crushes

Browsing photos after the weekend can be a magical experience, just don’t make the mistake of liking something you shouldn’t. It’s a rookie mistake.

Weekend photos

The morning after the night before and the photos and videos are up. You go through the process of who was looking well, who looked terrible and where’s that good looking one you spotted after a few beers..
